DHL: Largest Oracle MyHR Migration To Date Delivered With ‘Incredible Execution’

The Business Challenges

DHL faced the challenge of implementing Oracle’s cloud-based HR system on a global scale within a tight timeframe. With 60,000 employees, they required a significant amount of data migration expertise to meet their key requirements. This included migrating legacy data that was inconsistent and incomplete. Moreover, the data loading process had to be completed without disrupting the LIVE system. To tackle this complex project, DHL enlisted the expertise of Egress as their trusted partner for end-to-end data migration, specifically for the myHR UKI deployment.

Addressing their Challenges

Based on their prior experience, Egress understood that ensuring the quality of legacy data early on in the migration process was crucial for success. To address this, Egress promptly deployed their Egress Advance toolkit, which generated comprehensive reports on the data that needed to be cleansed by DHL. The tool’s automation capabilities efficiently managed the large volume of data, posing no technical difficulties. The automated nature of the tool ensured that loading into the LIVE system was 100% consistent and would not introduce any previously resolved issues.

Customer Benefits

Egress possess specialised knowledge regarding benefits and work schedules, which had not been migrated previously. Furthermore, their ability to promptly detect potentially problematic data in the vast dataset enabled DHL to meet their challenging deadlines and uphold their global plan.

The outcome

Egress successfully migrated Core HR, Payroll, Absence and Benefits data into the existing myHR production environment, encompassing approximately 60,000 employee records. This marked the largest myHR implementation to date.

The Data Migration workstream was completed within the agreed timelines and budget allocated in the resource plan. Throughout the programme, the myHR solution design was tightly governed, with changes to the environment configuration and behaviour managed via consistent change control. This approach ensured that the data preparation and cutover phases ran smoothly, with a remarkable 99.9% load success achieved by the final test cycle and a perfect 100% success rate for the final cutover.

This incredible execution and near-perfect tracking to the timeline is the result of a lot of planning, diligence, practice, and teamwork – including from our external partners Egress – and I couldn’t be more appreciative of the outstanding results.
